So as of yesterday, the days will start to get longer! The winter solstice marks this time of year, usually on December 21st.

Seasonal affective disorder is something that affects many people, yet some still do not know it exists. To be clear, mental health diagnosis don't "actually" exist. A diagnosis is just a collection of symptoms that many people have in common, so we give it a "name". Its not a tangible thing. Its purpose is to make things clear for health professionals, you and others.

SAD happens when it starts to get dark earlier and you or others may notice that you feel edgy, upset, anxious, tired, or unmotivated. You may start to sleep more, slack at work, or just not want to do things that you usually enjoy. It can be extremely difficult to get through, or just feel crappy. If you or others notice, you probably should talk to a counselor. Now that we are discouraged from going out and social distancing, a telehealth session once a week can provide tremendous support. There are many things that can be done to help. Don't suffer alone, call for an appointment!
