Length of Treatment

I want to talk about reasonable expectations and ideas you may have about treatment length. I understand that therapy can be difficult to manage financially, but dont let this undermine your progress by setting an unrealistic time frame for treatment. Treatment cannot be rushed to fit a budget. I am always willing to work with a client on price and have a very affordable sliding scale.

I have found that in many cases trust comes slowly and this is a good thing. You as a client must feel completely safe in order to make yourself vulnerable. Its just not so easy to talk about the hard stuff. The time it takes to develop this trust and rapport is crucial to the outcome of treatment. Technique is second to the realtionship that is formed. This makes treatment hard to measure sometimes, but do not give up too soon, becaue success is right around the corner.

The average length of time before significant progress is made is about 12 weeks. At this time a client usually feels the most comfortable and understood and is able to step into a new stage with a therapist. This is exciting. Treatment for 6 months is an average and up to 1 year for a serious condition. Life is a roller coaster. Let me be there for the high points and the lows over time.
